If Walls Could Talk: A Dialogue About Art in Public Space
Monday, October 19, 2009, 7pm
University Hall, Ahmanson Auditorium
Panelists: L.A.-based muralist Kent Twitchell, Berlin Wall muralist Thierry Noir, L.A. graffiti artist Timoi, and Steve Bagish, director of ArtStorm public art.  Moderator: Carolyn Peter, director and curator of LMU’s Laband Art Gallery.

The panelists will share their experiences working in the realm of public art.  The discussion will explore why these artists were drawn to create art in public spaces where politics, legal issues, scale, and the weather all play a role in the creative process. Whether they are painting on the Berlin Wall,  the side of an L.A.  freeway, or at Venice Beach, these artists have grappled with the temporality of their work in shifting urban and political landscapes.
