Damon Willick completed his Ph.D in Art History at UCLA in 2004. His areas of specialty include modern and contemporary art and the history of art history. His current research interests include Los Angeles post-war art, African American contemporary art, and issues of religion and spirituality in art history. Recent upper-division courses have included, "LA Now," "Modern and Contemporary Art Theory and Criticism," and "Issues of Contemporary Art and Religion."

Prof. Willick's most recent scholarly work includes co-curating the exhibition Gallery 32 and Its Circle at the Laband Art Gallery, publishing the essay "Still Live: The Theatrics of the Kienholz Tableaux" in the journal Art Lies, and the restaging of Allan Kaprow's "Giveaway" in conjunction with the Museum of Contemporary Art's retrospective on the artist. In addition to his writing and teaching, Prof. Willick serves on the editorial board of the art journal X-Tra Contemporary Art Quarterly.
