Dmitry Kmelnitsky is an Assistant Professor of Multimedia Arts at Loyola Marymount University and the founding director of Lustre, an art + design studio that develops concert visuals, music videos, animations, video art installations, and environmental projections. His interests lie in the exploration of narrative and innovative approaches to communication through motion-based, immersive and interactive media. Much of his work explores the nature of how ordinary space can be imbued with transformative qualities through the creative use of audio-visual and installation media.  His sound, video and multimedia works have been presented and exhibited in galleries (South Africa's Bell-Roberts Contemporary Art Gallery, Seattle's e4c media gallery, Niche.LA Video Art, Gallery 828), clubs (Club Glo, Vibiana, NY's Santos Party House), hotels (The Standard Hotel Downtown LA), performing arts centers (John Anson Ford Theatre, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Grand Performances), museums (NIVA and Archaeological Museum of Messenia), as well as national and international festivals such as Glow-Santa Monica, Boston Jewish Music Festival, Autumn Lights, Athens Video Art Festival, ISEA, 404, 809, Optronica, Digital Graffiti, and Festival Miden. His work has been featured in numerous online publications as well as in Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and CNN.
