How to Apply
All prospective music majors and minors follow the application procedures established by the university through the
Office of Admissions.
Admission to the Department of Music requires an additional audition in one's performance area. Formal live auditions are held late January or early February; tapes or CDs can also be submitted for review by the music faculty. The audition serves an added function–consideration for music scholarships. Money is available through a variety of scholarship funds and often prove to be a beneficial component of a student's financial package. More information on available financial aid can be obtained through the
Office of Financial Aid.
Available Scholarships The following scholarships are available to LMU music students:
University Music Grants General financial assistance for LMU students participating in music activities; while initially established for chorus members, funds are now awarded vocal and instrumental students (majors and non-majors).
George A. V. Dunning Music Scholarship Fund Established by George A.V. Dunning to provide financial assistance for LMU Chorus members, students studying classical piano, and students studying classical organ.
Truman Hutton Fund Scholarships for music majors with an emphasis on string players.
Amparo Iturbi Music Fund Scholarship fund established by Jose Iturbi in memory of his sister, Amparo Iturbi, for music majors, particularly those specializing in the piano.
Nanette Salamunovich Goodman Scholarship Fund The recipient of this grant must be a member of the University Choruses and have a good scholastic record. Selection will be based on talent and dedication to choral singing and not on financial need.
