Dear Friends of WORLD MUSIC at LMU,

On Sunday, April 28, we celebrate music and dance from Indonesia and West Africa with performances in Murphy Recital Hall.  In addition to traditional and contemporary pieces from Ghana and Bali, our program features a collaboration with noted sitar artist, Paul Livingstone, recently returned from a concert tour of India.

Livingstone is a long-time student of Pt. Ravi Shankar, who passed away on December 11, 2012.  He joins with LMU student musicians in the performance of “Gending Râg Durga,” for North Indian sitar and Balinese Gamelan, composed by ensemble director, Paul Humphreys.

The second half of the program includes three musical types from several regions of Ghana.  The last of these is “invitational,” so please come ready to dance!

Our instruments have never sounded better, and students are delighted to be working for a third time with Neili Sutker (CSULB) as Guest Director of Dance.

$10 General Admission
$5 for Students and Seniors

Tickets available through the Central Ticket Agency at 310.338.7588

Children (of all ages) are welcome!
