Kate Lewis began her classical guitar studies with the Trinity College of Music in London. She received her Bachelor's (BM 1998) and Master's Degree (MM 2000) in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Southern California. At USC she studied with Scott Tennant and James Smith and participated in master classes with some of the world's leading classical guitarists. Kate began her teaching career at USC, is currently Director of Guitar Studies at LA Valley College and is also on the music faculty at Loyola Marymount University and Cal State University, Northridge.

Kate has performed extensively in the US and Europe as a classical soloist and as a member of numerous chamber ensembles (Out Strung Duo, Critical Mass Duo). She has been broadcast on local radio stations such as KPFK and KUSC, KXLU and stations throughout the US. As a prize-winning classical guitarist, Kate has done much performing/recording with contemporary groups from an all female jazz/rock trio to a classical/pop ensemble to many straight-ahead rock bands. Kate currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Guitar Foundation of America.
