SharonMadden is a working actress, a member of Actor's Equity, AFTRA & SAG Theatrical Unions and has appeared in over 200 films, plays and television shows. With a career that began in New York City as a founding member of Manhattan’s Circle Repertory Company, Sharon had the opportunity to work with numerous prize winning writers Lanford Wilson, Tennessee Williams, A.R. Gurney, Mark Medoff and Edward Albee. She has performed at Lincoln Center, The Bitter End, Women’s House of Detention,and Circle-In-The-Square where she played a lead in the original NY runof The Hotel Baltimore. In NYC, she also worked as a model, a singer-dancer, a standup comedienne and a clown. Her acting teachers include William Esper, Herbert Berghoff, Roy London and Director Marshall W. Mason.
As a member of North Hollywood’s Interact Theater Company, she was a cast member of their production of Urinetown that won LA Weekly’s Best Musical Ensemble Award in 2007. (Musical Director John Rubinstein). She has also appeared in Interact’s award winning productions of Our Town, Juno & The Paycock, and Music Man as well as creating the company’s annual children’s theater camp “InterPlay” which celebrated it’s 13th year this past summer.
In Hollywood, she has played Feste in 12th Night for Shakespeare LA, in Cheese @ the Actor’s Gang, in Hand's of its Enemy and MRS. California atthe Music Center’s Mark Taper Forum. Film work includes Murder by Numbers and Turner and Hootch. On television, she has appeared in How I Met Your Mother, 24, ER, King of Queens, Bernie Mac, Six Feet Under, JAGand Fraiser among others. She has had recurring roles on Dharma & Greg, several Soap Operas and works with LA Theater Works Radio productions often heard on NPR.
At LMU Sharon has directed Loose Ends, Balm in Gilead, South Pacific, Children of a Lesser God and is slated to direct Cabaret in Spring ’08.
