Nenad Pervan

NenoPervan is a native of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His career in theatre, film and television started over twenty years ago in the formerYugoslavia. He earned his BFA in acting from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia in 1990. Throughout the eighties and early nineties, heappeared in numerous roles on stage in Novi Sad, Belgrade (Serbia) and Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

His credits include roles in plays by Shakespeare, Moliere, A. Chekhov, Gogol, Mastrosimone, Carver, Dumas, Nusic, Krleza and others. He also appeared in several movies directed by acclaimed directors from former Yugoslavia. Titles include: The Best (1988), The Border (1989), Aleksa Santic (1990), Revenge of theRose (1990) and The Black Bomber (1991).

In 1993, following thebreakup of Yugoslavia, Pervan and his wife Milena moved to the United States. In 1997, Pervan earns his MFA in performance from the Universityof Tennessee in Knoxville. That same year, now as a family of three with their newborn son Andrej, Pervans moved to Los Angeles, California.Since then, Neno acts, directs, writes and produces.

In 2002, along with Croatian actor Zoran Radanovich, he started “Il Dolce Theatre”, an independent theatre company, which specializes in producingplays by renowned European playwrights, rarely performed in the United States. Their projects like The Emigrants by Slawomir Mrozek, or Macbettby Eugene Ionesco were critically acclaimed and very well received by Los Angeles audiences. Besides these two, Pervan also directed Sarajevo…a Few More Stories, one man show performed in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York City, as well as Echoes by N. Richard Nash.

Inearly 2006, Neno went back to his native Sarajevo to direct an originalmusical One Man and One Woman (Jedan covjek i jedna zena) in the National Theatre of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also wrote libretto for this project.

Pervan appeared in several movies including The Hunted (2003) (with Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro), directed by Academy Award winning director Mr. William Friedkin and Hollywood Dreams(2006), directed by acclaimed independent filmmaker Mr. Henry Jaglom. His stage credits cover a wide spectrum of roles written by Shakespeare,Sophocles, Wycherley, Dickens, A. Chekhov, Ionesco, Frish, Kafka, Mrozek, Ludwig etc.

His latest stage appearance was also under direction of Mr. Friedkin as Prologue in Bela Bartok’s Bluebeards Castleat the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, produced by Washington NationalOpera, presently under artistic direction of maestro Placido Domingo.

Since1995, Neno also taught acting and movement classes at the University ofTennessee (UT) and Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts (PCPA).
