For students who are interested in continuing their education and expanding their horizons abroad, there are several opportunities to choose from in which you will receive credits toward the dance major/minor:

Semester options:

  • IsraelDanceJerusalem at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
    • DanceJerusalem offers university-level artistic and technical training in the disciplines of Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance Choreography (including Ohad Naharin’s GaGa). Our DanceJerusalem program will give you the artistic training and inspiration to create and perform meaningful works.

  • Atlanta, Georgia, USASpelman College
    • Dance at Spelman is a critical and creative thinking laboratory that nurtures women of the African Diaspora. Students investigate intersections of experimental creative practices, cultural discourse, and technology. In keeping with the College’s focus on social justice and innovation, the department’s theory and composition classes fuse technology and womanist theory along with other social discourse. The curriculum centers on the choreographic process through the lens of Black feminist theories, contemporary dance techniques, and interdisciplinary collaborative practice. Students engage with an exciting roster of visiting artists who explore and push boundaries through the Spelman College Dance Artist Incubation Residency (A.I.R.).

  • PhilippinesAteneo de Manila University
    • Ateneo de Manila University promotes the values excellence and service, magis (Jesuit phrase meaning "the more") and cura personalis (“care for the entire person”), professionalism and spiritual maturity. This is how students of the Ateneo de Manila are distinguished from others—from how they demonstrate leadership in their chosen fields, in their sense of service and justice in today’s complex world. Some dance courses they offer are Ballet, Street Dance, Modern Jazz, Ballroom, Tap, Belly Dance, and Yoga.

    • An exchange program is an exceptional opportunity to enhance one's college experience and become fully immersed in another culture at another university campus. Students will live and study side-by-side with local students from the host country and other international students there, giving students a true taste of what the student life in that country is all about. Academically, students will be challenged by learning a new language – if they choose – or exploring an array of unique course offerings that count as transfer credit toward their LMU degree.

Summer options:

  • FranceLMU Summer in Paris
    • Every three to four years our summer program in Paris offers a dance course which students can take for LMU credit. This is a great opportunity for dance students to study abroad if a semester program is not an option.
