Drollinger Family Stage in Lawton Plaza Construction to be Completed in Fall 2021
Lawton Plaza is the jewel of LMU, and CFA has re-imagined this space with a modern outdoor performance stage, with the intention of hosting a wide variety of live theatrical and dance events, music concerts, public lectures, and ceremonies. The stage will also become the new home of LMU Theatre Arts’ Shakespeare on the Bluff Festival.
A Vision for the Future of Performance: The Performing Arts Complex
The Performing Arts Complex at LMU will provide a range of opportunities to both the college and university, and will house flexible performance spaces, as well as dance and performance studios, and acting and tech classrooms for both the Theatre Arts and Dance programs.
A Vision for Renewal: Strub Revitalization
Plans for the Strub Theatre involve transforming the space as a modern and flexible black box-style theatre, with multiple options for seating and performance configurations, no longer limited by a predetermined arrangement of space.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
CFA is continually working to expand, expose and evidence our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, through course offerings, events and performances, the representational politics of presence and visibility, as well as through direct community engagement and meaningful partnerships.

State-of-the-Art Media Lab
To capitalize on increasing student interest and world markets in the analysis of media, we project a new Media Lab and Learning Space, allowing for improved individualized and collective class engagement across Communication Studies, the largest major in our college, as well as other areas. These types of innovative spaces facilitate imagination, expand opportunities for civic engagement, and improve conditions for collaboration across departments and thinking across borders.
Planned technological enhancements will make possible national and international teleconferencing, co-teaching and long-distance interaction capabilities with top scholars, public figures and news-makers. With open access to live media and social media coverage, the space will assist in teaching through video capture of public speaking and group presentations.
"For me, having scholarship support means I can finally attend a university where I feel I can make a difference and be the best version of myself, not just to benefit myself, but to help others. Having scholarship support means that I do not have to work full-time to go to school, I can focus on my classes and studying for the GRE. Having scholarship support means that I can be the first person in my family to graduate from college."
"I challenge the students to think about social justice issues in their community and to connect it to larger, global issues. My volunteer work in ARTsmart has strengthened my interest in working with students of all ages to foster 21st century skills, such as reflection and creativity, empathizing with the marginalized, and creating art that calls for transformative social change."
"I would not be where I am without my time at LMU. I have learned so much in these past four years, whether it be from my classes, performance opportunities, or extracurricular activities. My professors have prepared me immensely for the professional performance world, teaching me the skills that I need and helping nurture my development into the artist that I am today."
By increasing scholarship assistance to students, CFA aims to provide an opportunity for a greater diversity of students to benefit from an LMU education. By enabling success in college, we can support deserving students who want to graduate with their degree and give back to society. Once funding goals are achieved, we will establish a combination of full, endowed and annual scholarships to meet a wide variety of student needs.Support CFA Scholarships
