The Dance Program at Loyola Marymount University is the embodiment of training for the versatile dancer. With groundbreaking career preparedness programs, we are creating the next generation of dance changemakers for careers in concert dance, commercial dance, dance education, dance science and other dance related careers.

Located in the city of Los Angeles, our prestigious faculty cultivate brave spaces where students are invited to develop who they are as critically minded artists and leaders in the field. To reduce the risk of injury and promote a culture of healthy recovery, LMU Dance has a licensed physical therapist and Pilates specialists on staff, exclusively catering to LMU Dance students. LMU Dance regularly brings in guest artists, including: Pat Taylor, Dana Wilson, Rennie Harris, Dominique Kelley, Entity Contemporary Dance, BODYTRAFFIC, Tessandra Chavez, Doug Varone, Clear Talent Group, Cherice Barton, Brian Nicholason, Sidra Bell, MaryAnn Chavez, Bloc LA, Galen Hooks, Versa-Style, Stephanie Zalatel, CONTRA-TIEMPO, Phil Wright, Whyteberg, DaEun Jung, Go2Talent Agency, Wideman/Davis Dance, Monika Felice Smith, MSA Agency, Marjani Forté-Saunders, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, and Bill T. Jones.

Students are able to audition for department productions as soon as they arrive on campus. Performance opportunities include annual main stage concerts in the fall and spring semesters, senior thesis concerts, dance film festivals, and Senior Industry and Concert Showcases. Dance majors have opportunities to work directly with industry professionals and decision makers and to choreograph for stage and screen. Throughout their four years, students can also participate in our robust training programs which include the Community Dance Project in secondary dance education, The Equitable Commercial Dance Program, and the bicoastal Partnership with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, all innovative programs that build bridges into professional dance arenas.

LMU Dance students have gone on to have illustrious careers in dance performance, choreography, and education, working with companies and organizations like the Radio City Rockettes, Summation Dance, bbmoves, Urban Bush Women, NW Dance Project, and the Los Angeles Unified School District. Alums have choreographed and performed with artists such as Drake, Harry Styles, Usher, Madonna, Kim Petras, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, Kali Uchis, & Pharell. They have careers in dance medicine and in K-12 and higher education.

Loyola Marymount is rooted in the Jesuit and Marymount traditions. We welcome students from all faiths and backgrounds.
