Overview
Our conducting concentration is designed to establish the visual communication and rehearsal techniques necessary to successfully lead an ensemble. Students will develop visual techniques and communication skills that will aid appropriate interpretation and vocal production, as they discover the role of the conductor as rehearsal technician and educator. Students in the concentration will benefit from podium time in front an LMU Choral Ensemble in rehearsal and performance.

Academic Requirements
In addition to the 38 semester hours of general music major requirements and the foreign language requirement, students in the concentration will take MUSC 328 Choral Methods or MUSC 330 Score Reading; MUSC 332 Choral Conducting or MUSC 333 Instrumental Conducting; MUSC 432 Advanced Choral Conducting or MUSC 433 Advanced Instrumental Conducting; MUSC 445 Choral Practicum or MUSC 446 Orchestral Techniques Practicum.
A grade of A- (3.7) or above in MUSC 332 or MUSC 333 (when taken as a general music requirement) is required to be considered for admission to the Conducting Concentration.
