
Dance Minor at LMU
The Dance Minor is open to all LMU students and pairs well with any major. You’ll train in technique, choreography, teaching, theory, and global movement practices, all while building creativity, cultural awareness, and strong mind‑body skills that support any career path.

How to Declare the Minor
To add the Dance Minor, complete these steps:

Submit the Minor Questionnaire
by Friday, October 16, 2026 - Attend the Placement Audition
- Saturday, November 7 2026
- 10–12 p.m.
- Burns Fine Arts 239
- Admission is based on audition results and available space in the program
- Current Dance majors who want to switch to the minor must also audition
Curriculum Requirements
- The Dance Minor requires at least 19 semester credits
Opportunities for Dance Minors
Dance Minors are active members of the LMU Dance community and can participate in:
- Fall Concert auditions
(after completing 10 minor units) -
Spring Concert, Screendance Festival, and Senior Thesis performances
- Choreographing + performing in Impulse

Touring with Community Dance Project

Senior Industry Showcase (in production roles only)
These experiences help minors grow as artists, perform in faculty and guest‑artist work, and fully engage with LMU Dance’s creative community.
