Prospective First-Year & Transfer Students—Dance Majors
To audition for LMU Dance, you must first submit your application to Loyola Marymount University.
Please note: Dance must be listed as your first-choice major in order to be considered for admission into the LMU Dance program.
Audition
Once you’ve successfully applied to LMU, you’ll be invited to submit your LMU Dance Audition through our application platform, Slate. Please prepare and upload the following materials:
- Video Introduction (max 3 minutes)
Introduce yourself, share your dance goals and aspirations, and explain why LMU Dance is the right fit for your artistic and professional development. - Dance Proficiency Video or Pre-Approval (max 2 minutes)
Submit a solo performance in any style that best highlights your unique talents and skills. Compilation videos are not accepted. If you’ve received a pre-approval from one of our dance representatives, please upload that documentation in place of the solo video.
Important Dates
Application Deadlines for First-Year Students:
- November 1: Early Decision (binding)
- November 1: Early Action (non-binding)
- January 8: Early Decision II (binding)
- January 15: Regular Decision
Note: Early Decision (ED) is binding. If admitted, students are expected to submit their commitment deposit by January 11. Only apply ED if LMU is your top choice. Early Action (EA) is non-binding and allows students until May 1 to make their final decision.
Application Deadlines for Transfer Students:
Transfer Priority Deadline to Start January 2026
- Spring Priority Deadline: October 1, 2025
Transfer Priority Deadline for Fall 2026
- Fall Priority Deadline: February 1, 2026
- After February 1, 2026, transfer student applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
