Meet Sadie
Sadie Crystal is in her senior year at LMU, on track to graduate with degrees in Dance and Psychology. She started dancing at Innovative Dance in Wilsonville, Oregon, and has since trained extensively in ballet, modern, contemporary, acrobatics, choreography, tap, jazz and hip-hop. She has furthered her dance education through intensive workshops with MODAS Dance, Northwest Dance Project, WHYTEBERG, Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Company and the prestigious Dance Education Laboratory where she was invited to study with the renowned dance educator, Jody Gottfried Arnhold. This summer she is training at Whim W’him in Seattle in their professional summer dance program.
While at LMU, Sadie has performed the works of James Gregg (RUBBERBANDANCE), Damon Rago, Marcella Lewis, and Taryn Vander Hoop (Summation Dance). Sadie is also a certified yoga instructor and received her 200 hour training under Lila Flow Yoga in 2020. She has choreographed pieces in two of the LMU Spring Concerts in 2022 and 2023, and in the upcoming Senior Thesis Show. She is the current president of the college organization LMU Dance Society.
Her artistry comes from a place of curiosity and honesty, investigating the process of creation and practice; her work style is playful but professional. Her background studying psychology alongside her diverse dance training, offers her an integrated perspective of the engagement between the mind and body. She values consciousness in creation to achieve a fully embodied, technical, emotive, and reflective dance practice.
