Meet Cameron
Cameron Hedgspeth is a Maryland born, Bay Area raised dancer who has trained in the styles of Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Hip-Hop, and Krump. She grew up dancing recreationally in her early years, but has now shifted her focus to commercial dance. In her time at LMU, while working towards a degree in Psychology with a minor in Dance, Cameron has held a leadership position at Loyola Marymount University’s awarded “Best Dance Crew” Kuumba.
Kuumba, meaning creativity in Swahili, centers itself around using creativity to better one’s community focusing on fostering a safe space for BIPOC dancers through the education and understanding of hip-hop history, culture,e and foundations. Cameron has held a leadership position within Kuumba for all four years of her undergraduate experience. With Kuumba, Cameron has also had the opportunity to compete at Maxt out, World of Dance, and open for Jordan Ward at LMU’s “SpringChella”.
As an artist, Cameron is passionate about storytelling and loves to push herself to try new styles and concepts. In the coming years, Cameron plans to pursue a career in commercial dance. She looks forward to working with artists and creatives on live performances, music videos, TV shows, and movies. Later in her career, Cameron wishes to connect her psychology degree and dance knowledge and open her own dance studio with an emphasis on leading and educating a new generation of dancers and changemakers.
