Meet Averi
Averi Jones is a commercial dancer currently based in the Los Angeles area. As May approaches, she is focused on completing her dance and political science majors at Loyola Marymount University. With years of training and competitive dance experience, she has honed her skills to become a dedicated artist with an obsession for the stage.
Born with a deep love for dance, Averi began training at the age of three in Austin, Texas, studying various styles, including ballet, jazz, modern, tap, contemporary, and hip hop. Her talent and dedication were recognized early on—at 14, she earned a spot in the Art of Movement Dance Convention’s assisting company, The Academy. During her time with Art of Movement, she had the privilege of training under faculty members such as Melody Lacayanga, Moises Parra, Erin Babbs, and Zach Saunders. A year later, she was promoted to the role of "Featured Assistant."
Averi’s journey continued as she was selected to join The Collective, an assisting program by DanceMakers Inc. This opportunity allowed her to travel across the country, assisting and working with esteemed faculty members, including Channing Cooke, Robert Roldan, Erica Sobol, Kathryn McCormick, and Dejan Tubic. Averi also began assisting dance educator and respected mentor Renee Baldwin and continues to support her in classes and choreography at various studios.
Her time at LMU has expanded her experience in company work and concert dance, performing in pieces by Bernard Brown, Jermaine McGhee, Grayson McGuire and Shiori Kamijo of Entity Contemporary Dance, Joan Rodriguez of BodyTraffic, and Pat Taylor of JazzAntiqua.
After graduation, Averi looks forward to auditioning for various opportunities, from cruise ships to artist tours, with the hope of continuing to share her love for dance across all mediums.
