Donna Woods '05
Program graduate Donna Woods is a California artist and LMU Art Therapy graduate whose career has spanned forty years. She was recently contacted by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs with a request to submit images to be considered for their February 2019 Cultural Event calendar. Her painting "Warm Woman" was selected for the calendar.
"My passion for art and my compassion for people led me to study art therapy at LMU, and I have taken this experience into my volunteer mentoring," Donna said. "I volunteer as an art instructor and creative writing mentor with several schools, while I continue to pursue painting and screenwriting."
Throughout her career, Donna has participated in a number of individual and group shows in California and Canada. She is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University's Art Therapy program and an active volunteer in art-based community projects. Donna was a co-founder of and curator for Backstreet Galleries for seven years during which she implemented multi-ethnic programming and hosted several international arts exhibits. She was represented for five years by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, in its Sales and Rental Gallery, as an emerging artist. Donna is a dedicated artist, art educator, and community activist, with a dynamic, vibrant, and expansive pallet.
