Meet Aviana

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Aviana is a passionate artist and performer dedicated to the exploration of the human condition through the language of movement. She attributes her passion for dance to the Portland dance community and early training at the Center for Movement Arts. Since starting dancing at the age of five, Aviana has evolved into a versatile dancer, training in styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Release, Floorwork, Gaga, West African, Flamenco, Hula, and Polynesian dance.

Graduating from LMU in May of 2024 with a B.A. in Dance and a minor in Economics, Aviana's journey has been shaped by her training at Loyola Marymount University, BodyVox, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Vertigo Dance Company and Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. While at LMU, she has performed in works by Laura Smyth, Taryn Vander Hoop, Bernard Brown, Colleen Thomas, Doug Varone, and Madison Hicks and has been deeply influenced by their guidance along with professors such as Roz LeBlanc Loo, Laura Berg, and James Gregg.

Her performances, ranging from the South Coast Oregon Dance Umbrella, 4 Days of Aloha Hapa Haole Hula competition, LMU's Dance Concerts, and a memorable role of Fritzie in the musical production of Cabaret highlight her diverse and expressive capacity. Motivated by a deep connection to and curiosity about her body, Aviana's artistic mission centers on evoking compassion, challenging cultural norms, and prompting introspective shifts for collective change.
