The survey exhibition “Luciana Abait: On the Verge” includes more than 20 pieces created from 2017 to the present that center on environmental precariousness and conjure imaginary worlds that portend global climate catastrophe.

This hands-on, art-making workshop will address our anxious feelings about the current climate crisis. Together we will share our responses to this threat while creating art-inspired offerings. Dance Performance: Moving Meditations
Drop in for the choreography and improvisation of Damon Rago, Professor of Dance. Created in conversation with the exhibition “Luciana Abait: On the Verge,” Damon’s performances in the Laband will occur intermittently over two hours. In addition to his teaching position, Damon is the Artistic Director of MidLife Dance Project, a company of dancers still thriving in the latter phases of long and fulfilling careers.

Artist’s Lecture + Tour
Luciana Abait was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is currently based in Los Angeles, where she is a resident artist at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica. Her photo-based two-and three-dimensional works deal with climate change and environmental fragility, and their impacts on immigration. This talk will begin in the Burns 211 lecture space, followed by an exhibition tour in the Laband.
