Artist + Curator Exhibition Walkthrough
Join Luciana Abait and Karen Rapp for a conversation in the gallery about the work in "On the Verge." The survey exhibition “Luciana Abait: On the Verge” includes more than 20 pieces created from 2017 to the present that center on environmental precariousness and conjure imaginary worlds that portend global climate catastrophe.

This hands-on, art-making workshop will address our anxious feelings about the current climate crisis. Together we will share our responses to this threat while creating art-inspired offerings. Each person will have the opportunity to make a painting as a tangible representation of their personal vow to restore our planet's health. Free, supplies provided, no art experience necessary.

Dance Performance: Moving Meditations
Drop in for the choreography and improvisation of Damon Rago, Professor of Dance. Created in conversation with the exhibition “Luciana Abait: On the Verge,” Damon’s performances in the Laband will occur intermittently over two hours. In addition to his teaching position, Damon is the Artistic Director of MidLife Dance Project, a company of dancers still thriving in the latter phases of long and fulfilling careers.

Artist’s Lecture + Tour
Luciana Abait was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is currently based in Los Angeles, where she is a resident artist at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica. Her photo-based two-and three-dimensional works deal with climate change and environmental fragility, and their impacts on immigration. This talk will begin in the Burns 211 lecture space, followed by an exhibition tour in the Laband.

Conceived as a physical and emotional journey, Kelvin Bank '23, an environmental studies major and dance minor, and Bernard Brown, an assistant professor of dance, will inhabit the exhibition “Luciana Abait: On the Verge” together. Their performances will occur intermittently over two hours. You’re invited to drop in anytime.
