Mia Dawn is an Evanston, IL native who found her love of performing through dance at the early age of two. The youngest of four, she discovered she was happiest when she was making her family laugh. Shortly after beginning dance, she started acting and modeling in the bustling city of Chicago. Inspired by the actors who were bred in her hometown before her, Mia committed to training her craft at local studios, such as the Piven Theatre Workshop and Acting Studio Chicago. By the time she reached high school, she knew her calling was acting, and her favorite creative outlet was combining her first love of dance with her passion for the theatre.
Mia became a regular dancer in her high school’s musical productions and was tasked with dance captaining for two years in a row. Once at college, she honed in her acting ability through the lens of physicality with the aid of a minor in dance. Mia finds her characters through movement, and has a soft spot for physical comedy. She most recently utilized this skill with Shakespeare on the Bluff’s production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. Mia’s upcoming performance will be in Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she is elated to combine her favorite aspects of performing in this Chicago-originated neo-futurist production.
