Ashley Parkes—actress, writer, and director—grew up in the Bronx and upstate New York as a first-generation Jamaican-American. Since the first day she picked up her alto-saxophone in elementary school, Ashley fell completely in love with performing on stage—it was only a matter of time before she graced the stage as an actor too! After high school, she pursued her passion for acting, embarking on a journey that led her across the country, leaving behind familiarity in pursuit of her dreams in LA.
While studying abroad for a semester in London, Ashley took the opportunity to enroll in acting classes at the City Academy where she continued to develop her on-camera techniques. During her time at LMU, Ashley has distinguished herself as a multi-faceted creative force, actively self-producing her work and taking on directing and writing roles. Her directorial portfolio includes productions such as Becky Shaw, My Beings, and artist music videos. Her play, Off-Air, was also featured in LMU’s New Works Festival in the 2023 season.
This summer, Ashley is expanding her horizons as an Assistant Director. Alongside fellow LMU and UCLA students, she will present Sara Lina Sparks' The C Word at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland! Excitingly, Ashley is also gearing up for the development of her YouTube web series where she will showcase her skills as an actress, writer, and director.
