Madeleine Shallan is an LA-based actor born and raised in faraway San Diego. She never dreamed of a life as an actor until her parents forced her to audition for her high school’s play as a freshman in order to make friends (she actually chickened out during her audition and asked to be a costumer instead). She soon explored what it was like to act on the stage and knew it was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life after playing roles such as Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hamlet in Hamlet. She was raised by a British mother who insisted her child have an appreciation for Shakespeare and an American father who wouldn’t dare intervene, but Madeleine found a passion for it herself and went on to play Miranda in Shakespeare on the Bluff’s The Tempest and Benvolio/Balthasar in Romeo and Juliet: Love is a Fire at the Santa Monica Playhouse.

This family dynamic meant that Madeleine had a knack for accents from a very young age which went from switching between British and American depending on the day, to imitating others and trying her hand at Southern, Irish, Scottish, Cockney, and Russian to name a few. Her family lovingly calls her an annoying parrot.

Madeleine’s love for performing only grew while at LMU through roles such as Queen Marguerite in Exit the King or Claire in DRP’s Proof. Additionally, she has loved the opportunity to act in numerous films with the Film department and hopes to keep working on stage and on set! She also loves working as a freelance voice-over actor and has fallen in love with Improv, serving as Co-President for LMU’s Improv team, Laser Squad Bravo, the perfect places for her constant accents and impressions.
