Classically trained and proficient in the work of Hagen, Stanislavski, Strasberg, and
Shakespeare, Abigail Strasmann is an ethnically ambiguous actress who has played a variety of roles in student and professional film and theatre.
Raised in the very rural southwest, Abigail didn’t find herself called to acting right away, but early signs should have made it the obvious path. Opportunities in Utah were limited, but as a young child, Abigail spent every free second playing a hundred different characters in imaginary games, and over the summers, she practically lived at the Shakespeare festival at a nearby college, coming home only to reenact the plays. As she got older, Abigail drifted away from her roots, only returning to the theatre as a junior in high school, where she began to pursue this hidden passion.
Upon graduating, Abigail began her college career at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at Playwrights Horizons before the freezing cold drove her to the West Coast's Loyola Marymount University. In LA, Abigail quickly got involved with the film school, auditioning and acting for and in as many films as she could, as well as acting in mainstage and Del Ray Players productions. Abigail has played a range of characters and uses each one to more fully understand herself, other people, and the human experience. Abigail uses a variety of techniques in her acting, pulling from many methodologies, but grounds her work through her determination to always be the hardest worker in the room and the most enthusiastic collaborator.
Abigail’s favorite roles have included Kara in How to Defend Yourself, Rachel in End Days, Q in Passage, and Left in Mind over Matter. She is excited to graduate from LMU and continue her professional journey while using theatre to study human behavior. When she isn’t on set, Abigail rock climbs, hikes, and scuba dives.
