Judy Dater: Only Human

October 6 - December 8, 2018

Spanning five decades of the artist's work, Judy Dater: Only Human is the first exhibition in over twenty years to explore the career of Bay Area photographer Judy Dater. This exhibition will provide a survey of Dater's work, celebrating her achievement as a pioneering figure in 1970s feminist art and her subsequent creative evolution.

Young Contemporaries 2018

April 18 - May 5, 2018

The Laband Art Gallery is pleased to present Young Contemporaries 2018. Each spring, current LMU art students are invited to enter the Laband's juried exhibition and have their work judged by two professionals from Los Angeles's art world. This annual student show includes a range of media taught in LMU's art program such as drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, painting, ceramics, graphic design, and new media. Generous support for the exhibition is provided by The Friedman Family in memory of Andrea Kingaard Friedman '66.

New Threads: Perspectives in Contemporary Fiber Art

January 27 - March 17, 2018

This contemporary textile show includes 18 regional, national and international artists. The show is organized around three themes: technology as mediating force; the body and sexuality; and the re-contextualization of traditional forms. New Threads is co-curated by Karen Rapp and Sam Lee.
